Workshop for Directors
Posted on September 12, 2024 in General News, Member News
Are you an experienced director ready to level up your directing skills to take them to the next degree? Or an experienced actor interested in taking the plunge into directing? Either way this workshop is for you!
We will spend three days doing a deep dive to create a unified vision for the production of a play. The workshop will be a combination of group analysis, discussion, and on your feet directing experience. Topics covered will include:
- Preparing your script
- Creating a rehearsal process to maximize results
- Collaborating with designers
- Learning language to empower actors to make strong choices
- Translating text into blocking
- Developing a directorial vision that is grounded in text and creativity
So, there will be some pre-reading required to ensure all participants are ready to fully engage. This will include reading a play and limited selected readings about directing, all of which will be shared well in advance.
Dates: October 4–6, 2024
- Friday 6 to 10 pm
