Auditions for Hilda’s Yard

Are you excited? We are!
After months of a silent stage, we’re ready to open the doors to live audiences! We were hoping for no restrictions on capacity but that has been thwarted, at least for now. Important: Covid regulations will be observed. Scroll down for the current details.
Our first production of the 2021/22 season will be Hilda’s Yard, another hilarious comedy by Canadian playwright Norm Foster. Talented first time Director, Chris Iversen (Lend Me a Tenor, The Wizard of Oz), will be assisted by veteran Stage Manager Lois Towgood.
The story takes place in 1956. Hilda and Sam are finally empty nesters and they plan to celebrate being alone at last. However, their adult son and daughter have somewhat different ideas.
Auditions will be held on September 9th and 10th from 7 to 9 pm.
The show runs from October 29th to November 13th.
The Characters
| Hilda Fluck | Female lead, mid-50’s. Appears to be naive and vulnerable but has a great maternal strength about her. |
| Sam Fluck | Male lead, mid-50’s. Hilda’s husband. The family breadwinner, works at a paper products manufacturing plant. Feels unappreciated by his employer. Excited to finally become an empty nester with Hilda. |
| Gary Fluck | Male lead, 33. Hilda and Sam’s oldest child. WWII veteran who lived with his parents until very recently. Affected by the war, has made many poor choices and relies on his parents for help. Hilariously irresponsible. |
| Janey Fluck | Female lead, 30. Hilda and Sam’s youngest child. Married and comes across as a spoiled “Daddy’s Girl,” but her true self is much deeper. |
| Bobbi Jakes | Female supporting, early 30’s. Gary’s love interest. Musician, hip and free-spirited. |
| Beverly Woytowich | Male supporting, around 40. A nefarious gangster-type. Gary has an outstanding gambling debt with him. Very intelligent and well spoken for a “thug.” |

Covid Protocol (per provincial requirements)
- Anyone in the cast or the crew will need to be double vaccinated by October 24th
- Those auditioning will need to have at least one vaccination (please bring your card).
- Masks will be worn for rehearsals until the requirement is lifted.
- Masks will be required for audience members and anyone else who enters the building.
