Hullaboo and the End of Everything

Andrew Wade & Katie Purych
Spired Theatre

This heartfelt dramedy is the story of an invisible friend who doesn’t want to be forgotten.  What can an invisible friend do to survive?  A two-hander, the play requires twice Wade’s regular number of people, and features Katie Purych of Vancouver.

Andrew Wade is an award-winning actor and playwright. A 2011 University of Victoria graduate (BFA in Acting, BA in Writing), he won the 2011 Vancouver Young Playwright’s Competition for The Romantics, has been nominated for two Ovation awards and one CTC award, and has written and performed original works in twenty-two festivals across Canada. Wade co-created TITUS!: The Light and Delightful Musical Comedy of Titus Andronicus, which won the Pick of the Fringe Award at the 2015 Vancouver Fringe Festival and received a five star review from The Vancouver Sun. He is a two-time winner of SMACKDOWN: 24 Hour Musical Contest (Awkward Stage), and was chosen as one of Richmond’s ‘top 30 under 30’ by The Richmond News.

Katie Purych is stoked to be part of Theatre on the Edge this summer! Select credits include: Hullaboo and the End of Everything (SaskFringe), Anything Goes (RCMT); Polly Peachum in the Threepenny Opera (Theatre in the Raw); Janet Van de Graaff in The Drowsy Chaperone (Prairie Skies Musical Co.); the Baroness in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Align Entertainment); and Rose in Dogfight (Awkward Stage). Adrift

by Brandon Shalansky

Directed by Rob Mason-Brown
Fred Skeleton Theatre Company

A small boat, alone. Clarice, a loner and nautical enthusiast, has just run out of fuel in the middle of the ocean when she realizes she has an unexpected stowaway: Fiffon, a hungover socialite and complete stranger who has just woken up, with no idea that she is now, too, lost at sea.

Adrift is a story of human endurance, grief, and the ways we are forced, and sometimes force ourselves, into isolation.

Strong language.

The Particulars

By Matthew Mackenzie

Performed by Nathan Barrett

The story of Gordon, who, by day forges systematically ahead…but by night, begins to unravel when a relentless scratching sound echoes throughout the walls of his home.

The writing stands on its own…and MacKenzie effectively brings the cyclical smallness of a life to life. A day, a day, another day. A night, a night, another night (awake). The mundaneness, the madness, the minutiae. The Particulars broke my heart and I didn’t even see it coming. My favourite show this Fringe. –Elizabeth Withey, Edmonton Journal

Nathan Barrett is Canadian actor from Vancouver, British Columbia. He best known for his recurring role as “Tanner” in CW’s crime dramedy iZombie (2015). Barrett studied extensively with several theatrical, drama institutions including the David Mamet Workshop Daniel Brooks, The National Theatre School of Canada. He applied his knowledge and training in such stage plays as The Particulars, Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet and Henry VI. Barrett is a highly athletic actor with a martial arts background and weapons training in stage combat. He can also play the trumpet, classical piano, electric and acoustic guitar and the drums.
