Here’s your chance to become a broadcaster. A 3-day Radio Skills workshop is proposed for the following dates: All classes will be held at the VSBS broadcast studio, Room 30 (top floor) of the Downtown Activity Centre, corner of Shuswap Street and 5th Avenue. Please bring: • Something to write on/with (a laptop is fine, but it will get crowded if everyone brings one; let me know first), • A mug to fill with coffee or tea, water bottle (it gets hot in the studio) • A snack (for Wed) and lunch for Saturday & Sunday • $40 fee due on first day of class (cash or cheque is fine), • Recording equipment if you have it. If you are interested, please contact:
Leah Shaw, 250-832-8462 (office/fax), 250-804-8421 (cell), shawleah@telus.net

This summer marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the legendary folk singer, Woody Guthrie. There will be a celebration of his life and times at Shuswap Theatre in Salmon Arm on September 29th. & 30th. The show will consist of stories about Woody, lots of photographs and local musicians performing 20 of the over 2000 songs he wrote. Profits from the concert will go to support the people that Woody sang and played for, “the down-on-their-luck folks” who get help through local food banks.
