We are sad to announce that Shane Gorner  passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 28 at the age of 19. Shane was involved in several Shuswap Theatre productions as well as school shows. His family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Shuswap Community Foundation in his name.

We offer this tribute written by James Bowlby:

SHANE

Young, energetic, talented,

We saw you as a new performer

Able to bring your excitement to the stage.

Young, focused on your work as an actor.

No matter how small the role, you used your energy, your talent

To bring an excitement to your work, to your audience.

We mourn you, for our loss, for a void greater than can be described,

For if our beliefs are true you are in a  place where death has no sway,

And if not, your spirit lives and will enliven some young spirit on its way,

We hope to recognize that smile, that sense of fun that lighted all around.

We cannot believe your passing, your leaving us,

We shake our heads and search the skies

As if an answer can be found why you would leave us behind,

who wished to see you reach the stars.

We remember you in HEARTBREAK HOUSE, in SWEET SUSIE OF THE SHUSWAP, in ANYTHING GOES and more,

Yet still not enough, for we are hungry for your talent in a new and sparkling way

That we have had stolen from us who mourn.

SHANE
