“Dark Nights” Exhibit Opens at Art Gallery

Posted on December 3, 2014 in General News

<postcard_Dec2014.pdf>You are invited to attend the opening reception for “Dark Nights,” on Thursday (yes, Thursday) December 4 at 7pm. Enjoy live music by Bernd Hermanski, and wonderful refreshments. The ten artists featured in this exhibition present their take on the time of darkness.

Otto Pfannschmidt and Jen Dyck created work based on dreams, Sharyn Olfert and Barry Rafuse portray the night sky, Elaine Holmes’ figure drawing shows the light just starting to return to the land, Herald Nix shows us our city as daylight fades, and Lois McLeod portrays shimmering light dancing on a dark landscape. Rebecca Shepherd, Judy Sims and Margaret Robertson share their stories of night birds in mixed media paintings.
The exhibition runs December 5 to 20, 2015. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 4pm. The gallery will be open until 8pm on Thursdays. The Dark Coffee Break is on Thursday, December 18 from 2pm to 4pm. Share a coffee and cookies with the artists as they discuss their work. The Artist Trading Card session is on Tuesday, December 9 from 3pm to 4pm. Make & trade ATCs with dark collage materials.
This exhibition is generously sponsored by Culinary Inspirations. Watch for other December events at the Art Gallery and throughout the downtown.
