Mending Fences
October 26 to November 3, 2012
Canada’s favorite playwright is back with another hilarious comedy. Harry Sullivan hasn’t heard from his son Drew in thirteen years when Drew arrives at his Saskatchewan ranch for a visit. This poignant comedy tells the story of two men who want to reach out to each other but are too stubborn and proud to risk saying so. Then there’s the neighbour, Gin, known in town as “the woman whose husband hung himself.” As Harry’s unofficial girlfriend, Gin finds herself directing traffic in the middle of it all. The verbal sparring that results tickles the funny bone and you wonder if they will ever find a way to connect before Drew is back on the train and gone.
We are delighted to welcome back to Shuswap Theatre professional actor and director, Danielle Dunn-Morris.

The Curious Savage
March 1 to 9, 2013
‘The Curious Savage’ by John Patrick. Directed by Lois Archer-Duell – 7:30pm Evening shows March 1, 2, 5 – 9 and 1:30pm Sunday matinee March 3, 2013
It’s 1945. Our elderly heroine finds herself, against her will, coming to live amongst some very gentle, sometimes hilarious, but definitely peculiar people. With some mystery as to why she is here at all at “The Cloisters” and questions as to what her three adopted offspring from hell have to do with it, we find our heroine in a room plunged periodically into blackness (electricity having been given up for Lent), listening to some bizarre yet deeply philosophical logic from her new found friends at The Cloisters. And what about this hidden prize some will do anything to acquire? What and where is it? And does it really exist? As these mysteries are unveiled, the audience will be left wondering just who ARE the curious “savages” in this delightful story.

‘The Herbal Bed’, by Peter Whelan. Directed by Kim MacMillan – 7:30pm Evening shows April 26, 27, 30, May 1 – 4 and 1:30pm Sunday matinee April 28, 2013
This beautifully written drama was created for the Royal Shakespeare Company of Stratford on Avon, London. The Herbal Bed is a taut, emotional thriller based upon a genuine historical event involving Susanna, the daughter of William Shakespeare. Susanna chose a “good marriage” to an older man, a respected physician. She charges a young gentleman, once apprenticed to her husband, with slander over his drunken accusations of an illicit affair and worse. Where does the truth lie? Audience members are kept on the edge of their seats as these all-too-human characters struggle with their longings, their passions and how they conflict with their honouring of truth and morality. Would God ever want me to lie? This play is in modern English.
Please note: For this time only, The Herbal Bed will open on a Saturday rather than a Friday.
Season subscribers for Friday night will be contacted with information on how to exchange their tickets.
The Herbal Bed is presented by arrangement with Dramatists Play Service.
